About Us

The 2014-2015 Shippensburg Women's Rugby team is a member of the MARC (Mid-Atlantic Rugby Conference) and has been a club sport at Shippensburg University since 1983. The team practices twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays in both the Fall and Spring seasons. Practices are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays on Eckles Field, located behind the steam plant on campus, from 3:30pm to 5:30pm. Games are held almost every Saturday while in season.

The team is coached by Mr. Joe Delicati. The girls are led by President Laura Phillips, Vice President Taylor Morgan, Back Captain Caity Foreman, and Forward Captain Megan Mcgee.

While it is a club sport, the team takes this sport very seriously. The girls took the title of Division II National Champions for the first time in Spring 2008! In Spring 2009, the girls continued their reign of Division II National Champions. During the Spring of 2011, Ship traveled to San Francisco, CA to compete in the Division II National Championship round. The girls took fourth place. In the 2013 fall season the girls beat out Kutztown for the title of MARC Champions.

This team is a unique blend of girls that have a passion for competition and fun. These girls work hard and play hard and their domination on the field shows it. While excelling on the rugby field, the team also stars in the classroom. Over half of the team is currently on dean's list as we take our studies seriously. Many of the players are also in the co-ed Honors fraternity on campus. The team also volunteers in the community as well as fundraise for our club to make it to national tournaments. Make sure to come out and support the girls as they start their Spring 2015 season!

The Shippensburg Women's Team is currently with the MARC (Mid Atlantic Rugby Conference) DII League.
